Amelia - Leaving the past behind

I wanted to lean into the symbolism of the doorway to show the transition of leaving the past behind and moving on. It is a sign of the passing of time. Perhaps it symbolises personal growth, or perhaps just overcoming troubles and greeting a new day with a smile on your face.

Amelia stands in the doorway, on the precipice of change. Fresh leaves adorn the archway, symbolising growth and potential. As the door closes, a muted somber light shines through, and the objects she leaves behind are barely visible as silhouettes; symbolising a hint of sorrow, perhaps, that she parts with. The grandfather clock is essential in this symbolism - quite a direct reminder that "Time's arrow neither stands still nor reverses. It merely marches forward."

Warm light greets her from the front: illuminating the person she is becoming - the fruit of her labour. She could be waving at a person or, in a grander sense, greeting a new future that holds promise and happiness.
